Dayton, Ohio – Jan. 18, 2024 — The Air Force Museum Foundation, Inc., kicks off the 2024 After Dark series of after-hours events Saturday, February 10th, with Swing the Night Away at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for this adults-only (21+) event, which will run from 6:00–10:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased on the Foundation’s website: afmuseum.com/events/after-dark-events.
The focus of the evening will be dancing with the Ohio Ballroom Dancers. All levels of dancers are welcome, from experienced swing dancers to beginners, as are those who simply enjoy watching. This was the Foundation’s most popular After Dark event last year, and a large crowd is anticipated again this year.
Combining history with the nostalgia of swing dancing, there will be several rare opportunities to get up close and personal with historic aircraft and artifacts. The highlight will be a photo opportunity with the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Bockscar, which dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki. In addition, guests will have the extremely rare opportunity to enter the Curtiss C-46 Commando, part of the newly enhanced Over the Hump exhibit, and the Douglas A-20G Havoc Little Joe will be open for cockpit look-in. Artifacts from the Museum’s collection specially curated for this event will also be on display.
There will be trivia with prizes. An hors d’oeuvres buffet will be provided. A selection of adult beverages will be available for purchase at cash bars.
After Dark is an event series designed exclusively for adults ages 21+, to allow patrons to enjoy the Museum in a relaxed setting with friends. Proceeds from the events enable the Foundation to support the Museum’s expansion, special exhibits, restorations, enhancements, education programs, special events, and more.
