After Dark: Cosmic Camp
Dayton, Ohio – Aug 15, 2024 — The Air Force Museum Foundation announces Cosmic Camp, the third of the 2024 After Dark series of after-hours events, Saturday, September 7, at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for this adults-only (21+) event, which will run from 6:00–10:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at afmuseum.com/events/after-dark-events.
The highlight of the evening will be the silent disco where guests wear headphones and choose their own music to dance to. In addition, space-themed games and crafts, trivia with prizes, visits by characters from the Ohio Garrison of the 501st Legion Star Wars costumers, photo ops, and other “out-of-this-world” activities will be available.
Educational opportunities surrounding the U.S. space program will be featured. Guests will be able to explore the Space Shuttle Crew Compartment Trainer and hear astronaut Mark Brown talk about his experiences in orbit; hear a presentation about the newest addition to the Museum’s Missile and Space collection – the Atlas rocket; take an inside look at the Martin X-24A lifting body (which was tested during the development of the space shuttle); and peek into the massive Lockheed Martin Titan IVB rocket used to launch payloads into orbit from 1997 to 2005. Items from the Wright State University archives and artifacts from the Museum’s collection not normally on display (with members of the Museum’s Collection Division staff on hand to explain their significance) will also be on view.
An hors d’oeuvres buffet will be provided and a selection of adult beverages will be available for purchase at cash bars.
After Dark is an event series designed exclusively for adults ages 21+, to allow patrons to enjoy the Museum in a relaxed setting with friends. Tickets can be ordered online through the Foundation website afmuseum.com/events/after-dark-events.
Proceeds from After Dark events at the Museum benefit the Air Force Museum Foundation, Inc., the nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness in support of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
